OUR HISTORY
During 2014 and 2015, several hundred residents, business patrons, and business owners came together to address growing concerns along the Campo Road corridor, including an overconcentration of liquor stores, rising vacancies, graffiti, and visual blight.
From 2015–2018, with guidance from Institute for Public Strategies (IPS) and East County Youth Coalition, community stakeholders received training in organizing and problem-solving, held cleanups and public meetings, and surveyed residents and businesses to identify major concerns and identify priorities. Key concerns included an oversaturation of high-risk businesses in the half-mile stretch of Campo Road’s business corridor, homelessness and panhandling, graffiti, and empty storefronts. During this time, the group—then a project of IPS—also built working relationships with departments across the County of San Diego and met quarterly with then-Supervisor Dianne Jacob to advocate for change.
In 2018, the Casa de Oro Alliance incorporated as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation with its own board and committees. Today, we remain an all-volunteer organization dedicated to strengthening community pride, addressing local concerns, and providing input on revitalization efforts that shape Casa de Oro’s future.

OUR MISSION
We secure funding, coordinate projects and events, and build partnerships to bring resources to Casa de Oro’s Campo Road business corridor and elevate the visibility of the entire community.
ADVOCACY
We actively communicate with San Diego County departments to advocate for community needs. Share your voice and be part of shaping a stronger, better Campo Road business corridor for everyone.
OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
As an all-volunteer organization, our progress is powered by community—neighbors, partners, and supporters who generously share their time, expertise, and financial support to help restore pride, connection, and momentum in Casa de Oro. We’re grateful to everyone who has contributed to making these accomplishments possible.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Why?
Boy Scout Troop 355 is away at camp and needs the community’s help to set out and take in the flags. The troop members set out the flags about 10 times a year on most of the federal holidays but relies on the community for the 4th of July.
How long will it take?
It takes about 45-60 minutes from start to finish if we have 12 volunteers.
What time should I arrive at the church?
Meet at the church at 6:15am and/or 6:15pm so that we can start on time
How far will I need to walk?
Volunteers should be prepared to walk 3/4 mile
Can kids help?
Kids can help if accompanied by an adult. They must be able to walk 3/4 mile and be tall enough and strong enough to hold the flags on the poles without having the flags touch the ground.
Can I get community service hours?
Casa de Oro Alliance can give community service hours. You’ll receive 1 hour for the morning shift and 1 hour for the evening shift.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
