Big news!

The County of San Diego Department of Public Works has earned TWO ‘Project of the Year’ awards from the American Public Works Association (APWA), including one site here in Casa de Oro — Estrella County Park!

Never been to Estrella Park? Come to the Casa de Oro Alliance’s 4th Sundays Jazz in the Park (June 22 @ 5-7pm) and check it out! Parking is available at Santa Sophia Church from where you can walk a quick 0.2 miles up N. Bonita Street to the lower entrance of the park. Bring a chair!

Estrella County Park Biofiltration & Trash Capture Project (Sustainable/Green, $2–5M) – Recognized for its innovative green infrastructure, treating 22 acres and keeping 18 gallons of trash out of local waters annually.

Los Coches Dry Weather Diversion Pilot Project (Environment, under $2M) – Honored for boosting water quality and supply, contributing 1.3 million gallons/year to local reserves and removing 139 gallons of trash from our waterways.

Congrats to the team for leading the way in sustainability and environmental protection!
